FYI
I have found on ancestry.com a pension application filed by Nancy Hilliard on 16 May 1866 for Guy's service in the War of 1812.For those on ancestry it is at
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=pawar1812pensions&h=23115&ti=0&indiv=try&gss=pt&ssrc=pt_t6799038_p-1223375337_kpidz0q3d-1223375337z0q26pgz0q3d32768z0q26pgplz0q3dpidhttp://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=pawar1812pensions&h=23115&ti=0&indiv=try&gss=pt&ssrc=pt_t6799038_p-1223375337_kpidz0q3d-1223375337z0q26pgz0q3d32768z0q26pgplz0q3dpid
The document is signed by Nancy Hillard (her mark)and witnessed by James G Hillard. While this is not concrete evidence of James being Guy & Nancy's son, it is added information.
PS The Pension application doe not state the regiment the Guy served in, but does state that Guy served under Gow Henry.Gow was a captain in Hamilton's Rifles out o Daulphin County PA.There is a Guy Hillard/ Hilyard listed as serving in Hamilton's Rifles.Muster Roles show that Guy served under Capt Isaac Smith, but things happen in the field.Guy must have had a lot of interaction with Gow Henry for him to have mentioned him to Nancy.
