I think I may have been too quick to link this to my family line. I don't know of any Samuel in our line but it is possible. I only have a line of first born son's but I believe my cousin has greater access to more information.
Alexander Hillard (great, great, great, great, grandfather) B: 1781 in Ineskiten County, North Ireland. D: 1857 Butler County, PA. Married Sarah Dixon.
Next son John A Hillard B: May 26, 1815 Endeavor, PA, D: Dec 4, 1879
John Hillard proceeded to have 4 generations of Guy Hillard's, ending with my Uncle who broke the chain with his son.
Guy Hillard B: May 20, 1847 Butler County, PA D:Feb 22, 1919
I believe only had 1 son.
Guy M. Hillard B: April 18, 1885 in East Hickory, PA D: Feb 22, 1912 in Endeavor (from a lumber accident, 5 months before his son was to be born).
Only had 1 son.
Guy Edward Hillard B: July 30, 1912 D Feb 2, 2001 Both in Bradford, PA
This would bring us to date, my Grandfather had 3 son's and 1 daughter.
So I am not sure if there is a connection between the two families, but they are so close. At the very least, you know there is another chain of Hillard's in the Butler county, or perhaps there is a split that I don't know of. This may be connected to Carl's question’s as well? Next time I talk to my cousin I will see if he has any further information.
Let me know if any of this helps you.
