I am searching for a Ferriby Ward born 1825 NC or AR with a brother William Ward born 1830 NC or AR. I came across these two websites of the same family for a Pheraby Ward. I can't find a link for my familiy, thought it might help you. The first is on ROOTSWEB from B.Douglas dated Sat, 5 Jan 1980 and the email on it is no good. The second one is at

Hi all. Samuel Isaac Thornton and I think another Isaac Thornton are all over my GGrandfather's account book. They were, I think, his uncles. His mother was Millie Thornton, married to Benajah Ward. They lived in Bentonville, NC.
Benajah's first wife, we think, was Ferrabee Raynor. We are
absolutely sure about the Ferrabee, but not too positive about the Raynor.
Does anyone have her anywhere? They were only married five years. They had three children and she died in childbirth. Sad.
I'd be so excited to get in touch with "cousins." Thanks for any communication.

Francis Hill is my husband's ancestor. His son Bennett Hill had a daughter Easter Ann Hill who married Samuel S. Moses.
I am tracking the family and would like to know where in SC they may have lived. Easter Ann is listed as being born there. They were in Wilcox County, AL by 1830 when Easter Ann and S. S. Moses were married. By 1840 the family was in Union Parish Louisiana and Easter Ann was dead. Did the family move to Georgia? Your Hobbs family moved to east central Georgia? I have contacted one descendant. What do you know that I need to know? (I have the will) M.N. Turner

First, you did not give any dates on the Francis Hill, Blackman names, so I am not sure I can be of help to you.
From Sampson County Court Records 1800-1810 I have found :Peter Lee Jr., Bennett Hill, William Blackman Sr., James, Joab and Josiah Blackman; in 1809 Barnaby Blackman Plantation is mentioned. That year Joab Blackman was released as guardian for Burchett Lee, and Lundy Lee took over. When Francis Hill (father of Bennett Hill) died about 1800, Josiah presented the will in the court. Bennett's wife was Mary Lee daughter of Peter Lee Jr. and sister Elizabeth who married Thos. Thornton. Their brother Cato Lee married Nancy Holland. As you can see the Lee's, Hill's, Thornton's are all mixed up. Bennett Hill and family and many of the Lee's moved to Wilcox County, Al about 1820...but where were they after 1810 in Sampson Co. Esther Ann Hill (Bennett's dau) was born in SC or so the census says. This may all be confusing, but maybe we can match up information and solve some of these mysteries. I am also trying to find where Esther Ann's husband Samuel S. Moses came from. Census says he was born in GA. Oh, well, Thanks Mary Turner
