Mike,
The surviving Anthony and Corders returned to Caswell Co. N.C. after the attack, a couple others not until the prisoner exchange at Greenville Ohio in 1795. about 1800 they moved to Middle Tenn. (East of present Nashville, and North of Murfreesbotro.)Later many removed to Southern Illinois and Missouri. The flournoy family had been in Kentucky for a number of years before the attack in 1793.They had a station on Elkhorn Creek, east of present Georgetown Ky.
I believe Matthews Flournoy originally a Virginian, was part of one group, and the Anthony and Corder family
from N.C. another group. These two groups banded together for mutual protection for them trip through the wilderness.
Robert Hill is a challenge here. you are correct there were Hills in Caswell Co. So he could have been part of that group. I found a Robt. Hill as a soldier in the N.C.Continental Line. He served 12 months in 1781.(from Soldiers of the Continental Line Newberry Library ChicagoIl)
On the other hand, you mentioned the marriage of Wm. Hill to Phoebe Flournoy.I also found in Kentucky probate and church records a Sarah Conn Will book f p.389 with a dau named Cassandra Flournoy. A witness to the will was Robt Hill Jr. So Robert could have just as easily been part of the Virginia group.
I also found on the Ky Pension roll of 1835 a Robt Hill who had been a private in the Virginia Militia.
I will keep working on this keep in touch and let me know if come across anything .
