So I went back to the 1900 census to see what children are with William and Calra

Mary A. wife, age 46, keeping house, born OH both parents born Wales

CLAUSEN, David F., age 43, laborer, born TN both parents born PA

** so I am guessing Daniel may be father of William and John B. may be father of Daniel. So I am now going to look for earlier census years to see if I can find them.

1870 POLK, TAYLOR, IOWA
WARD
J.B., age 57, farmer, born OH

Harriet, age 54, keeping house born TN

next door
WARD

JENKINS, Emily J, age 16, born IN

So it looks like Daniel is son of J.B. and Harriet, and William is son of Daniel and Mary.

*** I wonder if the others that are in the various census records are also family members - could Polly Hibbs be a sister to Harriet??

I'm going to see if I can find any marriages for you .

There is a Daniel Ward who enlisted in the Civil War from Iowa. He was a private in Company H, Iowa 8th Calvalry Regiment - mustered out 28 August 1863

I have had no luck with finding marriages, but I did find a couple of family trees- you never know with family trees - if they are right or not if they don't give sources, but I will give you what they say.

Jonathan B. Ward born 1812 OH married Harriet Hibbs
They show Jonathan's parents as Isaac Ward born 1767 Neward NJ , died 1841 and Beulah Bradway born 1783 Neward NJ, married 1811 to Isaac.

They show Isaac's father as Joseph Ward, born 1734 Newark, NJ died 1824 Columbia, Hamilton OH and mother as Phebe Parkhurst born 1736 Elizabethtown, NJ died 1801 Columbia, Hamilton NJ
Joseph had a second wife Rachel Muchmore Stites - married 1805 OH

Joseph's father is shown as Lemuel Ward born 1704 England, died 1754 Newark NJ
Joseph's mother is shown as Hannah born 1708 Newark, NJ

marriage: 1733 Newark, NJ

they show list of children for each generation - too many to write down

They say Joseph served in the Eastern Regiment, Morris County Militia, New Jersey 1776

Thus information would have to be checked to be sure it is correct but they did list some sources

They also have a story of the Ward family which I am copying for you

WARD

Joseph Ward and two sons left New Jersey on horseback to survey the
Northwest Territory, and to visit another son who had come to the
Northwest earlier. After they returned to New Jersey, the Ward clan
packed up their belongings and left their homes in Chatham, NJ and headed
west. Over the mountains with oxen-drawn carts they headed for
Pittsburgh, PA where they boarded flat boats and started down the Ohio
River to Cincinnati, OH. They first settled in Madison (ville), OH.

Joseph Ward ( 1734-1824) fought in the Revolutionary War. Following the
war, the U.S. government gave grants of land and money for those who
served in the war. It was this that brought him and his family to this
area. Joseph's wife, Phoebe, was
tomahawked and killed by Indians as she went to the spring across the
trail from their cabin for a pail of water. Joseph died at the age of 90.

It is not known when Uzual, son of Joseph and Phoebe, moved to Union Co.,
IN. According to the 1884 Atlas of Union County, he purchased the
Southwest quarter of section 12 on Sept. 28, 1813 and later bought more
land and lots in Liberty.

Squire Ward, Uzual's son, also acquired considerable acreage of land in
Union Co., IN. On July 5, 1826, Squire was appointed by the board of
justices of Union County as the supervisor of District No 8. On Apr. 5,
1844, he was elected supervisor of the Road District of Center Township,
Union Co., IN.

Squire donated a section of land to School District No. 4 for school
purposes only. This is where his daughter, Maza, attended school. The
school was abandoned in 1856 and it became the home of Maza and her
husband Denis Egan. Maza inherited 166 acres of land. She sold the deed
for $ 1.00 to her husband Denis. Together they acquired even more land.

Denis Egan was a Civil War veteran of Indiana 9th Voluntary Calvary. He
was the Liberty Post master frorn 1859t o 1889. During that same period,
the management of the "Review," a Union County Newspaper, was in his
hands.

In 1881, Denis and 34 others were sworn in as Union County Horse
Detective Association. Denis and Maza's daughter, Annette Egan, married
Daniel Breen. Their son, Walter Breen served in WW 1. He married Corella
(Stanton) Wooley. Together they had three children, all born in Union
County. One daughter was Sue Ellen (Breen) Ross.

[Annette Egan (aka Annetta Melinda Egan) and Daniel Breen's daughter, Agnes Breen, married Carroll Dale Keim, and had four children, one of whom was Annette Keim. She married Ralph Anthony Orth with whom she had 12 children.]

** they do not show any children of Jonathan B. Ward and wife Harriet Hibbs.

It is interesting that Harriet turned out to be a Hibbs though as that makes sense with a Polly Hibbs with them in 1850.

This is all for now - I'll try for more later.
