Olive,
An article printed in the British "Country Life" magazine which was printed in the August 4th, 1934 issue discusses the history of Poundisford Lodge. In the article it states; ".... On the corner penditives occur the initials W.H. and L.H., evidently for William Hill and Lucy his wife, daughter of John Ryves of the Dorset family by that name....." This refers to the corner coves of the crown molding in one of the bedrooms at the Lodge. Incidentally, my husband and I were fortunate to see this home, including the engraved initials, a few years ago. It is well understood by the current owners of the house that Lucy was, in fact, the daughter of John Ryves.
In my research notes, I may have some additional information on the Ryves family. Unfortunately, all of my data has been packed for an upcoming move. I will pull it as we unpack and send you any additional information.
Carmel
