Hi George, The only likely match for Amy Hiles that I found was listed in the 1881 Census on the LDS website: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/search_all1.asp THOMAS W. HILES, head, married, male, age 28, birthplace: Gloucester, Gloucester, England, Occupation: Mill Sawyer EMMA HILES, wife, married, female, age 28, birthplace: Bristol, Gloucester, England, occupation: Westcoast Maker (Tailor) JOHN W. HILES, son, age 8, birthplace: Bristol, Gloucester, England EDWIN C. HILES, son, age 5, birthplace: Bristol, Gloucester, England AMY A. HILES, daur, 8m, birthplace: Bristol, Gloucester, England Dwelling: 50 Topaz St. Census Place: Roath, Glamorgan, Wales Family History Library Film: 1342271 Public Record Office Reference: RG11 Piece /Folio: 5285/150 Page Number: 41 I have a copy an old family letter dated February 10, 1948 from Thomas Stratton who mentioned the recent passing of his wife Amy. I found a marriage index that lists a Thomas Stratton and an Amy Amelia Hiles (Marriage: Sept 1901, Swansea, Vol: 11a, Page: 1586). I also noticed a number of subsequent birth indexes for Stratton children in Swansea that may be connected to Thomas Stratton or his older brother William George Stratton. It has been suggested to me that Amy's maiden name may have been Iles rather than Hiles. http://www2.freebmd.org.uk/ So far, I have been successful in making email contact with the greatgranddaughter of Thomas & Amy Stratton who lives in England. Many of the Jowetts and Strattons who moved into the Swansea area seemed to have disappeared. My wife’s grandmother was Harriet Stratton (Rail) who died in Edmonton, Canada in 1924. I appreciated your time and interest on this topic. Peter Vancouver, British Columbia Canada Notify Administrator about this message?
