Clara Belle Arwood, 85, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at
Appalachian Christian Village.
Mrs. Arwood was a native of Bakersville, NC, and had lived
most of her life in Johnson City, TN. She was a daughter
of the late John and Lillie Hoilman.
Mrs. Arwood was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert
Arwood Jr.; one brother; and five sisters.
Mrs. Arwood was a charter member of New Hope Church of
Christ. She was a former employee of the Hosiery Mill and
was a baby-sitter for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth A. Arwood and his
wife, Carolyn, Johnson City, TN, and James Douglas Arwood
and his wife, Ann, Mebane, NC; one sister, Faye Robinson,
Bakersville, NC; three grandchildren, Jason Arwood,
Johnson City, TN, Chris Arwood, Mebane, NC, and Leslee
Arwood, Mebane, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.,
Sunday, at the funeral home and at other times at the
residence, 1101 East Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, TN.
A funeral service for Mrs. Arwood will be conducted at
6 p.m., Sunday, April 5, 2009, from the Morris-Baker
Funeral Home South Chapel. Mr. Paul Peer and Mr. Todd
Wolfe will officiate.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 6,
2009, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are
asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. and
travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be
selected from family and friends.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests
memorial contributions be made to New Hope Church of
Christ, Building Fund, 4527 Bristol Hwy, Johnson City, TN
37601.
