The only additional pieces that I have picked up, are:
1.) There is some thought as to the middle name of the middle name of Benjamin HILDRETH at his baptism at the Independent Congregational Circular Church in Charleston, SC on 10 Apr 1803 as being (Griswold).
This could be tied to the family name of what I speculate is the maiden of a person who could possibly be his grandmother. On 10 Feb 1772 at Trinity Church in New York City there is a recorded marriage of Benjamin HILDRETH and Elizabeth GRESWOLD.The spelling is not an issue with me.
Trying to find the link from the New York City marriage to the South Carolina baptism is.The reason that I believe that this is a better than 50% chance of being the link is that there is an understanding of our Benjamin Griswold HILDRETH who was baptised in Charleston, SC as having a sister named Ann ELIZABETH Hildreth with a birthdate of ca. 1801.
Benjamin is recorded as being a resident of the Charleston Orphan House by his mother (Mary Groshen) on 28 March 1811.He was indentured to an aunt(?) Elizabeth McBride as an umbrella maker on 28 Mar 1824.
There is record of the baptism of Ann Elizabeth HILDRETH on 5 Apr 1801 at St. Philips Church in Charleston, SC.
2.)I found record of Benjamin HILDRETH - the father of ours, in the 1800 Census of Charleston Co., SC on page 84.The list of children do not match in that it lists others that we do not have on record. This is not a signifcant concern, as children come and go in early American history from any number of historical events.
I have found record of a baptism of Benjamin HILDRETH at Trinity Church in New York City on 18 Apr 1779 giving us an approximate birth date.
I have then found additonal record of Benjamin HILDRETH - sailmaker in the City Directory of Charleston, SC:
1796 - 7 Pinckney ST (sailmaker)
1800 - 7 Pinckney ST (sailmaker)
1801 - 2 Champney ST (sailmaker)
1802 - Champney ST (sailmaker)
1803 - Champney ST - Loft & 22 Wall ST (sailmaker)
