BAYLES/BAYLESS/HILDRETH/COGAR BOURBON CO., KY

Is anyone working on the surnames BAYLES/HILDRETH/COGAR of Bourbon county, Ky?

I have been looking for the parents of my husband's grandfather John William Bayles born in 1851 for years.
I recently found him on the 1860 census age 9 (this is correct) living with a W. (William) Cogar and a Kitty Cogar in Bourbon co., Ky.

When searching further I found that Kitty Cogar was born Kitty Hildreth and she had a sister named Mary Hildreth who married a John Bayles.

I thought I was on the right track as family lore is that our John William Bayles was orphaned young and was raised by a Aunt and Uncle, alas I cannot find any mention of Mary Hildreth and John Bayles having a son, I did find two daughters for them, Mary Ellen born in 1845 and Caroline born in 1848.

John Bayles apparently died before 1857, as Mary Hildreth Bayles married a Nat Rogers in Bourbon co., Ky.

Can anyone shed any light on the above mystery?

Was my John William Bayles a son of another Bayles family in Bourbon co., Ky?
His birthdate was May 4, 1851.

Any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.
Please email me directly.
Sincerely,
Marie-Frances Bayles in Illinois
