Beverly,
The Hildreth Family Association has published five books and one CD to date about the genealogy of the Hildreth family. There is another book, called the "Red Book", by the Iowa Hildreths which has their lineage. These cost a less than the fee you mention for the Spur volume.
You can contact Raymond (Bud) Hildreth, First Vice Pres. of the Hildreth Family Association at [email protected]
for information concerning these. The official historian is Jon Hildreth who has published a message in this website. He has over 23,000 names in the official family computer.
We still do not have knowledge of the origins of both Ricahrd Hildreth, who founded the New England line, and Thomas Hildreth, who founded the Long Island, N.Y. line.We are presently undergoing a search of English records for these.
I am happy to see that others are also researching their genealogy as all efforts just lead tomore shared information online.
