Bill: The information I have on Franz F. Hildesheim's military service is from microfilm of civil war records that the Arkansas historical commission library has. They also have microfilm copies of his pension application and supporting documents filed in 1904. These indicate that he was wounded in top of the head in battle at Milliken's Bend near Vicksburg Miss. but don't give the date. May have been early 1863 as that was when most of the fighting in that area occured. My mother was Hazel Bernice Robertson, daughter of Annie E. Hildesheim and Thomas M. Robertson so she was your father-in-law's cousin. Murvin
