Family lore tells my mother's side that her grandfather, Moses Arch Green was actually a Hildebrand. Family genealogists have found him to be the son of Samuel Hildebrand and Patience Green. It is suspected that Samuel was sent west with the Cherokee and may not have even known Moses Arch. Patience died when Moses was only 8 years old, and he was raised by his grandparents, which is why he took the Green name.
The family has found that Samuel was the son of George Hildebrand and Susannah Graves, and the grandson of "Indian John" Hildebrand.
Can anyone tell me anything at all about Samuel Hildebrand. What happened to him after he left Tennessee? Who else did he marry? Anything would be appreciated!
