I visited the web page for the Hilburn genealogy and did not find any reference to a Vaughan Hilburn. Vaughan Hilburn b. 4-6-1806 in VA/NC (depending upon the census source cited) d. 5-30-1891 in Laurens Co., GA m. Eliza Ann Mclemore in Laurens Co. b. 2-16-1812 d. 11-20-1893 in Laurens Co. GA. Had several children including my gg grandfather Andrew Jackson Hilburn, (7th & 21st GA Cav). According Andrew Jackson Hilburn, his son Octavius Inman Hilburn, and his daughter Lois Hilburn (my grandmother) the father Vaughan Hilburn of GA was John Hilburn. Three Hilburn brothers (two whose whereabouts after they immigrated from Ulster are unknown) came to America. One of the brothers settled in VA, in Isle of Wight. A later descendant, John Hilburn emmigrated to NC, then SC (where he was drafted into service in the Amer. Rev. in Newberry District. While John and his family were passing through GA to settle land granted him for his service in the American Revolution (4th Regt., Light Dragoons, Continental Troops), Vaughan remained and became a stagecoach driver between Milledgeville and Augusta. After Vaughan's family went on to Mississippi, John Hilburn, Sr. and his on John Hilburn, Jr. were granted additional land patents certificates in Copiah and Washington Counties in MS. Vaughan rode on horseback to visit his mother in MS before she died. John, Sr. later moved to Paulding County GA where he lived with Samuel and Rebecca Hilburn (his son?) according to the 1850 GA census page 055 and 060. Also have wills for Vaughan Hilburn in Isle of Wight Co., VA in 1736 and one in Hinds Co., MS in abt. 1834. Looking for help to solve this puzzle. Thanks for any responses.
