Hi Victoria

My Grandfather's family are also connected to the Hightons of Southport. Shadrach Wright married Isabella Highton in 1875. Isabella's father was John Highton he was born in 1818 and married Hannah. They had 10 children between 1844 and 1871 - Margery, Luke, Isabella, John, Marintha, Elizabeth Ann, Ann Jane, James Wilfred, Ada and Emily. John died in 1878.

John's parents were Luke and Elizabeth Highton. Luke was born about 1788 and died in 1854. Luke and Elizabeth had 10 children - John, Elizabeth, John, Ann, Richard (died in infancy), Maria, Richard, Luke (died in infancy), Luke, Jonathan.

The information I have for Richard Highton baptised 21 Oct 1827 at St Cuthberts Parish Church. Married Margaret A. They had 4 children (that I know of) James, Harriet, Anne and Emma born between 1860 and 1871. They appear on the 1881 Census living at 61 Lorne Street, North Meols Richard aged 52 is a Bricklayer and Margaret aged 50 is a Shopkeeper, living with their 4 children aged 19 to 10 years old. Richard died in 1894.

I have only just started my research on my Highton Family in Southport so haven't come across your Family, I will let you know if I find anything that might connect to your tree. Certainly in looking in Southport for Hightons there only appears to be the one family stemming from Luke and Elizabeth, all the Hightons I have found so far seem to be connected to them.

From Kathryn
