My grndfather, Gomer Highland worked as a lock tender on the Erie Canal (Now NYS barge canal) around 1881. He was born in 1861 and died 14 Jan. 1916 in Little Falls, N.Y. He married Lena E. Miner 17 Oct. 1885.
