Earl And Nina Higginbotham did an excellent job on their bookHigginbotham ...Descendants of Moses and Frances ( Kyle). It bothers me so much to see Val Duran claim that he is connected to the Amherst branch. He has simply inserted a few names ( contrary to all research) to conveniently create an instant family history. He claims Moses Higginbotham Jr. married a second time to an Elizabeth Faries. Let's set the record straight: There were two Moses Higginbothams , one from the Amherst branch AKA: James Moses Higginbotham who married Elizabeth ( Betsey) Garrison in 1785. They had 11 children born between 1786 and 1815. The other Moses Higginbotham married a Faries in 1800, which makes it impossible that these two different Moses Higginbothams are the same. This Family line needs more work to clarify where they descend from. It is believed that this family may descend from a Thomas Higginbotham. Possible children of this Thomas Higginbotham would include 1.) Peggy ( who married in 1793 to a Robert Faries 2.) Agnes who married 1796 to a Tim Carroll 3.) Moses who married a Faries in 1800 and, 4.) Elijah who married c1801 to a Peggy Goff. I would like Val Duran to do his own research and quit fabricating a fictionalized family history based upon the works of the researchers of the Amherst branch. I would even like to initiate a challenge , if he will accept it, to show him his mistakes. I might even be able to help in identifying the father of his Moses Higginbotham.
