Greetings! I hope that this note finds you well. I don't know if you remember me, but you and I had several email conversations about our common (or not so common) ancestry, the Higgasons. I am a descendant of Samuel Higgason, thru John Overton Higgason. I have a question for you about the birthdates and death dates on John Overton Higgason. I hope that you can give me an idea.
I have spent a great deal of time looking for the documentation (any documentation) that my John Overton was one of the sons of Samuel Higgason, and documentation of JO's birthdate and death date. Everyone seems to have the same lines and agree that Thomas and Samuel were brothers. Both fought in the Revolutionary War and were sons of John Higgason. John Overton was a son of Samuel Higgason and Sally Gentry....but is there a record of this anywhere? Census report? Church records? By the time they moved to Sumner County, John Overton Higgason seems to have been grown and not living with Samuel. We all seem to agree on dates that came from somewhere on John Overton Higgason's birth and death, yet I can't seem to even find cemetery records. Even Samuel's pension papers don't mention the heirs.

Can you point me in the right direction to verify that John Overton Higgason was the son of Samuel? And that he was born 24 Feb 1796, Louisa County, VA, and died 16 Aug 1872?

Thank you so much. Am looking forward to hearing from you.

Debbie Palmer
