Hi Debbie, It's great to meet you. I've read your postings on both forums. I had the pleasure of speaking with Harold Sweeney in Hendersonville Tn. He told me that as a child his mother Nannie told him that when the Higgason's came to America their name was not"Higgason" Harold said he thought their name was "Woodfork". Have you ever heard anything about this? Interestingly enough I found that in early England a hig was a hay farmer and sir names were often derived from ones occupation.I spoke with some Higgason's in Clovis Calif and they had had a very simular version with the name being "Norfolk".
