To all those who knew and loved Fred, he will be missed. Although I am not part of his family, I had the honor and privelage of being his personal trainer for a short period in 2001. He was a wonderful and kind soul who had many colorful and amazing stories to share. I'll never forget the time I had him warm up on the treadmill at the gym and told him to make sure he kept the speed at 1.0 mph as we had done in the past. As he made his way to the treadmill I gathered his client file information. He was standing with his feet on both side panels, lateral to the actual treadmill belt staring down at the belt while holding on to the railing. He seemed unusually hesitant and kept bringing his right foot over the belt as if to walk but instead hovered it precariously then setting it on the side panel. I yelled to him, "Fred don't put your foot down!" and ran over to push the emergency stop button. Needless to say he accidently punched in 10.0 mph instead of 1.0 mph on the digital display. We laughed about it later and never again did I leave his side when he warmed up. I think about Fred often as he has had a great impact on my life as a Pearl Harbor Vet and just a wonderful person. My deepest condolences to Fred's family and friends. Fred, you are awesome! Most honorably, Shigetada Toyoguchi Notify Administrator about this message?
