I am looking for further information on Cullen C. Hickock, aka Calen, b. 1825 in Fairhaven, VT d. February 04, 1883, Sandwhich IL. M. Susan Tolen 1851 in Whitehall, NY. Susan Tolen b. April 27, 1827 in Ireland d. March 30, 1891, probably in Sandwhich. I am interested in information on her ancestors. Also on Cullen's parents, Joel Hickock d. 1838 Fairhaven, VT. Married Betsey probably Church, daughter of Lydia (Babcock) Church and her first husband. As the widow Lydia Church she later married Ethan Whipple in Rhode Island. Her parents were Elizah Babcock and S. I have no other information on Joel Hickock's parents, origins or occupation, nor on Lydia's first husband Mr. Church, father of Betsey. There was also a Betsey Whipple, daughter of Ethan Whipple in Fairhaven at this time. She married another Hickock, Elias b. Dec. 9, 1780 which causes some confusion. I believe that Betsey was the daughter of Ethan and his second wife, and that Lydia had her own daughter Betsey from her first husband.

LYDIA CHURCH, a widow from Massachusetts, whose maiden name was Babcock, and who was married to Ethan Whipple in December 1815, had a family who came to Fair Haven as follows;
1.Sophronia, m. a Smith, of Massachusetts,
2, Betsey, m. Joel Hickock; d. in town about 1838
3.Lydia, m. a Mr. Todd, and resides in Rockville, Ill.
4.Sylvanus, was engaged in the salt business at Syracuse; d. in Whitehall and was buried in Fair Haven.
5. Lucinda, m. Florus Meachaml is now dead
6. Harvey, who married and resides in Troy, N.Y., where he has been engaged in the lumber trade.
i.e. she brought these kids with her to Fairhaven, they were not Ethan's. Any information on any of these folks would be helpful. Thanks.
