All of the issue mentioned in the 1776 MD State Census appear to be the issue of Joseph Hixon and Susannah (unknown) as they are again listed in Joseph's Will.It appears that Susannah was the one who had either been married before or had a bastard dau named Eleanor/Nellie.
Andrew Hixson stated on the 1860 MO census that he was born in MD in 1766.All of the issue are 2 years apart which tends to confirm that they had these children together.Eleanor is NOT his dau and she appears to have already been married to Sparling Bowman by 1776.
I do not believe that Joseph is the horse thief from NJ because Andrew's birth proves that he was a resident of MD in 1766.There would be no reason to leave a pregnant wife and 2 small children in MD to steal horses in NJ.
As for the Loudon Co. Hixsons they appear to have traveled in a different time frame to VA and I can not make a connection at this time to our Joseph Hixson in MD.It is probably correct that they are all related, but that relationship is unknown.
There are flaws in the "Warpath" book.I do not believe that Suannah was a Stringfield regardless of the family traditional story.
