Hi Peter
Just read your message about Hicks.I am the great grandson of John Winfield Hicks.I descend from Cora Hicks(my grandmother). Cora had 12 children and my mother was one of them(Louise Edna). Your message indicates that you have traced back to Joseph Benjamin Hicks.I have gone back two more generations. Winfield Hicks was Joseph Benjamin Hicks's father and John Hicks was the father of Winfield. They lived in Roane County Tenn.Winfield was married to Julianne Billingsley. The Billingsleys have been traced to Francis Billingsley who came to America in about 1645-1650.Our Billingsleys lived in Maryland until just before the Revolutionary War, at that time they moved to North Caroline and after the war they moved to Tenn. The lineage on the Billingsley's go back to the 1400's. What I don'thave much on is the Davis lineage.I know Mary Francis Davis was the daughter of James Chrisman Davis and his second wife, Sarah Elizabeth Robinson (who we descend from)I have the names of Sarah's parents but I don't have the parents names of James C. Davis.I know he came from Illinois to MO in about 1868/1869. We have been told that he was part or full blood Osage Indian.Any help would be much appreciated.I am going to a family reunion in Missouri and it would be great to have more info regarding the Davis line.I have a lot more info if you are interested. What I have just given you may already have, but thought I would pass it along.Hope it helps.
