Dear Jeanne,

James M. Hicks is my great-great grandfather. I descend from his son Jefferson Filmore Hicks and his son James Young Hicks and his daughter Marian Jenkins Hicks. My mother Marian has always told us Hicks Chapel in Marion,NC was originally Methodist. My grandfather James Young Hicks was born in 1881 and was raised Methodist. I know he attended Hicks Chapel while visiting there in the 1950's and was so upset by the Baptist service he walked out.

Do you know where the 'Young' name came from?

I want to thank you for all of time and research about the Hicks family. You seem to be cornering the "James M." dilemma.
