John Hickmott born about 1787 in England (according to the 1860 Oakland County cenus) applied for naturalization on January 21, 1860. He was married to Mary born about 1794 in England. I don't know when they died, or where they are buried. I am guessing it is in Oakland County, probably Avon Township, but I don't know for sure.

They had a son, Stephen Hickmott, born 1823 in England (according to census records). He immigrated to the United States in 1851 (from the 1900 census) - presumably with his parents. Stephen applied for naturalization on April 14, 1856 in Oakland County. Sometime between 1851 and 1856 he married Eliza J. (there is a land record showing in 1856 E. Hickmott bought land in Avon Township, Oakland County - this corresponds to the 1860 census records that I find the family in). Stephen died in 1910 and was buried in West Haven Cemetery, Shiawassee County. Eliza died September 14, 1894 and is also buried in West Haven Cemetery, Shiawassee County.

Stephen and Eliza had the following children: Bert born in 1877, Melvin born in 1864, Frank born in 1867, James born in 1871, Fred S. born in 1874 and William born in 1870.
