My Hickmotts were from Cranbrook, but they lived there in the late 1500s. Wyllyam Hickmott bc 1543 married Mary Merryham/Merriam in either Horsmonden or Cranbrook. Their son, William b c 1571 d 1632 married Ann Cogger of Sandwich, and their son, another William b 1598 married an Ann. Their daughter, Judith, married Christopher Dive, yeoman of Benenden. The latter two Williams were butchers in Cranbrook, but held land in several parishes, so obviously butchery was profitable! LOLOL
