I believe your Mary Hickman who married Henry Stricklin, Sr is the sister to my 4th gt grandmother Elizabeth Hickman (b 1737). I have info from FTM that Mary was b @ 1740 in NC. Could it be we share the same ancestors Nathaniel & Sarah Hickham from VA settling in Edgecombe Co/Nash Co NC? Would be interesting to compare notes. I just posted the following on the STRICKLAND Forum.
"I do not have any proof that Sarah "Strickland" married Nathaniel Hickman. I have seen this on the net, which of course is not to be accepted as fact. This Nathaniel Hickman was born @1720 in Isle of Wight Co Va, then removed to Nash/Edgecombe Co where he died before 10 Nov 1795. He left a will naming Sarah as well as 5 children. His Daughter Elizabeth, b @1732 m (1) Aurthor Due and (2) Thomas Vivrett. Thomas & Eliz are my 4th gt grandparents. Thomas & Eliz had a daughter Mary who is reported to have married Henry Stricklin, Sr.
I have documents only from NC, not VA where Nathaniel & Sarah would have possibly married. It has been some time since I worked on this line and I haven't re-read my research but I know I have never found documentation.
