This may be a coincidence, but my great-grandfather's brother was named Roy and born in Iowa. Died due to complications from mustard gas exposure at Aisne-Marne during the latter part of WWI. Unclear whether he is buried in France or Iowa. No kids, but my grandfather's middle name was Roy, my brother's middle name is Roy, and my son-to-be's middle name will also be Roy. So, at least the name survives, whether the geneology connects somehow or not.
