Well, we're partially on the same page in the play book. But I think there are still enough differences to warrant further investigation.

The Sarah Hicklin I'm talking about was born in 1740, we think in Virginia but it could have been Penna. She married
John Montgomery 2 March 1785 in Augusta County, VA. Certainly she was old enough by that time that it could easily have been a second marriage for her. They moved to Knox County, TN and had 3 dau. and one son, James. Daughters were Jenny, Martha and Mary (Polly)

This Sarah died between Aug. and Oct of 1839 in Knox County, TN. In her will she lists her father as "John Hickland of the State of Virginia" We believe her mother was Nancy Abney.

We also believe that John Hicklin is a son of Thomas Hicklin who died in Augusta Co.,VA between Sept and Nov 1771. We do not know his wife but they had 7 children including a Sarah who married a Black. Sorry, but we do not yet know the birth date of this Sarah. This could be the source of some of the confusion regarding the Sarahs.

Darn - it would be simplier if people would stop using the same name for children over and over again.

I'd like to discuss this further with you off line if you're agreeable to that.
