Melanie, this is fascinating. I'm a direct descendant of Charles Hamilton Hicklin. If you're correct, I'm also a descendant of the captain, which I had hoped for (because of his military role at the British surrender at Yorktown).

As much as this is welcome news, I want to be sure that it's accurate. Can you elaborate on how you concluded that Charles is the son of the captain (Thomas Wilson Hicklin) and that the captain is the son of Thomas Jr.?
