SANDWICH — Helen T. (Hickey) Lavoie, 88, of Dorchester and formerly of Sandwich, died May 14, 2010.
She was a great lover of quilting, knitting, reading and people.
She was the beloved wife for 61 years of the late Harold J. Lavoie Sr.; loving mother of Helen T. (Terry) Manning and her husband Jerome of West Yarmouth, Harold J. (Harry) Lavoie Jr. and his wife Maryann of Dorchester, Mary E. (Beth) Gibbons and her husband William of Bourne, Paul T. Lavoie and his wife Mary of Abington, and the late Joseph F. Lavoie; devoted grandmother of Joseph Manning, Justin Manning and his wife Lynn, Justin Lavoie and his wife Megan, Brian Lavoie and his wife Laura, Michelle Lavoie, Meghan Rodes and her husband Chris, Gregory Gibbons and his fiancee Maryann Kinney, Paul Lavoie, Christopher Lavoie and Michael Lavoie; great-grandmother of Ryan Lavoie, Carli Lavoie, Jack Manning, Lilly Manning, Emmett Manning, Devan Rodes and Nora Rodes; devoted sister of John Hickey and his wife Ellen of Hyde Park, and Ruth Payson and her late husband Bertram of South Boston, and the late Mary Rita Hickey, Vincent Hickey, Margaret McLellan and her husband Donald, David Hickey, Arthur Hickey and Nancy Hickey; sister-in-law of Mary Hickey, Joan Hickey and Martha Hickey; and dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, from The O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester St., South Boston. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid's Church. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 18. Interment is in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to either The Gavin House, 675 East Fourth St., South Boston, MA 02127; or Caritas Hospice, 310 Allston St., Brighton, MA 02135.
