William Albert Hickerson, b.1868 CT
According to transcribed on-line birth and marriage records in Wilton, Connecticut (Fairfield Co.) William Albert (var. "Algert")
Hickeron of Weston, Connecticut (b. 1868) married an Irene Roe (var.Rowe, Rae) b. 1874 . They had 5 children between 1895 and 1900 of whom only two are listed as surviving in 1900.The listed children were William Albert Hickerson Jr. (b.15 Feb 1895), Anna Belle Hickerson (b. 8 Jul 1898)
and Charles Burr Hickerson (b. 1 October 1900) all born in Wilton. In addition to the documentary records, my father personally met Irene Hickerson, who was his great-aunt. Although listed on the birth certificates as "white" she was actually half-Indian according to family legend. William F. Scribner, my great-grandfather was her half-brother. Her father was an Indian refered to as Chief Cheekan, who evidently married my great-great grandmother after she'd become a widow. Aside from the fact that Irene smoked a pipe and survived at least into the 1930s when my father met her, that's about all I know for sure about my Hickerson relatives.
