Hi Christina,

Many thanks for your response. You seem to be much far ahead in your research! I am still in a very very early stage regarding my research work on Hickel family. I already had the first difficulites in research with my father's and grandfather's generation due to the fact that the brothers and sisters of my father and my father himself died. So, my grandfather. This means, information is hard to get already at this early stage. Only thing I know for sure is that my grandfather's family lived near Gleiwitz and Kreuzenort (Slesia), so his father. Unfortunately, I cannot offer you any information on Lorentz or Devault Hickel at the moment. Are you sure that they are buried in Germany or is it possible that they were buried in another part of Europe (possibly France or Alsace)? As to my knowledge, there seem to be some ancestors located in Kurtzenhouse (during 1500 - 1600?) which is Alsace-Lothringen. Alsace-Lothringen was always a point of "quarel" in history between France and Germany - part of it used to be German and then French again etc.... In fact, I also came across some change in the spelling of the name "Hickel". There was one person who wrote the name Hickel as "Hikel". I would much appreciate getting a bit more information on the history of the Hickels in the US - if this is possible and does not cause to much inconvenience! Thanks & Best Regards, Michaela Alexandra Hickel
