I am no relation but this is what I found for you.
Leslie's parents were Leslie Willard Hiatt and Ellen a. Pierson. Leslie was b. Mar. 1865 in Idaho, Ellen b May 16 1863 in Willard, Box Elder, Utah. She died 22 Apr. 1918 in Los Angles, Ca. Leslie and Ellen m. 1887 probably in Utah.
Ellens parents were Harmon Dudley Pierson b. 25 Apr. 1818 in clifton Killingworth, Middlesex, Ct. Died 3 July 1891 in Plymouth, Box Elder, Utah. Ellens mother was Ellen Felts, b. 2 Feb 1838 in Knoxly, Pike,Ga.D. 10 Oct 1909. Ellen Felts was the third wife of Harmon. He had two other wifes, Louisa Whitaker and Mary Ann Henshaw. He had 12 children with Louisa, 11 with Mary Ann and 8 with Ellen. Ellen Pierson was the second child of Ellen Felts Pierson.
Harmons father was Daniel Pierson b. 1783 in Ct and d. 1845 Navoo, Ill.Daniel was married to Julia Ann Lester. It would appear that it was probably Daniel who became Morman. The Pierson family went way back but I did not take you back that far.
If there is Cherokee it might be thru the ancestor of Ellen Felts b. in Georgia. The Cherokee were there before they were forced to march to Oklahoma. It doesn't look like it came from the paternal line as they were in Conn.
even in the 1700's. I'll check the Hiatt line next and see if there might be anything there. I am related to the Hiatt as my ggg grandmother was a Hiatt. They were in the Carolinas as were the Cherokee so maybe that may be a place to look. See what else I can find. MY Hiatts were Quakers and never found any Indian blood other than some say way back Pocohontus was an ancestor. I'm not sure if that is true or not.
