Judge Conklin's obit: May 26, 1999, Honolulu Star Bulletin:
Former U.S. Magistrate Daral G. Conklin, 73, of Kailua, died May 19.
Conklin was in private law practice in Honolulu for 33 years and continued to lecture and participate in legal seminars after his retirement. He retired in 1992 after seven years on the federal court bench.
He was born in Kahuku and graduated from Iolani School.
He served in the U.S. Navy for three years during World War II, then earned a bachelor degree from University of Hawaii.
He received his law degree from University of Virginia School of Law. He served as an assistant U.S. attorney before entering private practice.
He was a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Hawaii Bar Association.
He is survived by sons Daral Jr. and Craig and daughter Laura.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Hawaiian Memorial Park.
Aloha attire is suggested.
The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
