If you are still in search I may be of help.Firstly you should use Thomas's middle name of Mahihelelima as a clue. Many middle names at the turn of the century would have come from the name of Thomas's father's name... Mahihelelima. She may be of relation to the Mahihelelima family of Honuaula on the isle of Maui. The hawaiian name carries on with the location on Maui. When Kaahumanu was born her parents Keeaumoku (of Hawaiian ali'i) and Namahana (of Maui's royal line) sought refuge at the fortress near Hana called Kauiki. The Ali'i of the district was the brother of Kanekapolei one of the wives of Kalaniopu'u.This brother was named Mahi-hele-Lima.His father was the noted Chief Kauakahiakuanui o Lono.Who inherited the Eastern side of Maui from his father Lono-makai-honua the brother of the King of Maui Kaulaheanuiokamoku.Their father was Maui King Lono-honua-kini.I will say more later....
