Hohenhaus emigration to the Kingdom of Hawaii
Wilhelm Hohenhaus emigrated to Hawaii around 1890 from Germany. they settled around Lihue Kauai and he had something to do with the sugar mills. My Grandmother was his daughter and was born on Oct. 7,1894 on Kauai. Wilhelm Hohenhaus died in Feb. or March of 1901, and the remaining family moved on to San Francisco. I visted several times but the old Methodist chuch in Lihue burned in 1908 and all those records were lost. Wiolhelm was buried in Pearl City and in or around 1955 that section of the cemetary was razed and all unclaimed bodies placed in unmarked graves. I had heard that Wilhelm , being a ex member of the Kings Royal Guard of Germany was on one side or the other in the 1890's during the world powers trying to ceded the Hawaiian Islands. I was told he was on the side of the Hawaian people and would really like to get the real story.Wilhelm was married to Ida Schueler.
