My 3rd great grandfather was William Rampley, born abt 1756 who married Mary Hewitt they moved to Spartanburg S,C I was told by another reseacher that she was the sister of James Hewitt,there was a James Hewitt in Spartanburg who witnessed deeds in 1787 and 1788.
And one in Spartanburg S,C in Deed Book D JAN 15,1793 Joel Hembree and wife Hannah to William Rumpley( Rampley for 80 S,C MONEY sold 104 acres on both sides cane creek border Joel Hembree ,John Butler James Hewett And Joshua Smith part of 815 acre grant May 2,1791 Gov Charles Pinckney to Joel Hembree to Joel Hembree.. Witness Walter Barrell and Andrew Thomson .signed Joel Hembree and Hannah's mark Wit oath Jul ,20 1793 Walter Barrel to Samuel Lancaster rec April 26,1796,
I would apperciate any one help in any Information on this family,
William and Mary Rampley's children
1- James Rampley
2- Elizabeth Rampley who married Aaron Moore
3-William who was my GGGGrandfather who married Clarinda Betterton .
4- Jane Rampley Who married James Grant and was left a widow early in Life. Jane remarried and moved from S,C
