I suggest you search old newspapers at http://www.fultonhistory.com.
I searched for Maida Davis, Maida Perkins, Wallace Hewett, etc. and found seveal newspaper article regarding this family. Maida and her mom were left out of Mr. Hewett's will and they contested it.
And I found her obituary on another site:

Maida Perkins
Mrs Maida Perkins. 68. of Old Military Road. Lake Placid, died Monday morning Feb 17. at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh
She was bom in Lake Placid on Sept 19, 1917, the daughter of Wallace
and Bessie Davis Hewett. Before her retirement in 1972 she had worked at the Ray Brook State Hospital. She was a life member of the Placid Star Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Mrs Perkins was the widow of Robley E Perkins who died in Lake Placid on June 23, 1971.
Survivors include an uncle Lloyd R Davis of Hudson Falls, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. There were no calling hours. The funeral was held Wednesday at 1 pm. at the Clark Funerai Home in Lake Placid with the Rev Steven Smith, pastor at the Whiteface Methodist Church at Wilmington, officiating. Burial will be in North Elba Cemetery.
