I am looking for the family of mary hewes 1645-1710 married in 2/20/1671 to thomas johnson preston 1641-1710/12 in the ( maryland area ? ) Mary Hewes Was the sole heiress to joseph Hewes estate. This can not be the joseph hewes the signer of the declaration. because the dates do not coincide and he remained a bachlor SOOOOOO.... I need another joseph hewes who had a daughter mary. So far I have not found any documents that help me connect the two. I have only been looking for a short time but, There is at least one genealogy on the net that mentions mary and her father as joseph. That work has no dates or info on either of them ---- It is possible that she was the sole heiress of an "uncle" joseph hewes and her father had another name ? Can anyone help with this puzzle.
