Here is some more information. My mother, Annette Hewes Tunnell, uncovered a family tree she had written down based on her mother Annetta Phillips Hewes's recollections.Annette's grandparents -- William L. Hewes parents -- were James Walton Hewes and Susan Quigley. In the 1880 Census (on the LDS website) James W. Hewes is 21 years old and is a carpenter.(He went on to build houses.)His brother William Hewes is 24 years old and is a miller, his sister Ellen Hewes is 16 years old, and they are living with their mother Susan Y. Hewes who is 60 years old. They are living in Birmigham Township, Delaware Co., Pennsylvania.Birmingham Township is along the Delaware-Pennsylvania border.
Susan Y. Hewes is almost certainly the Susan Y. Walton in the family Bible held by Doug Thompson. She is probably the daughter of James Walton (1781-1856) and Esther Yearsley (1785-1827).James Walton and Esther Yearsley are listed in many Yearsley family trees. However, they all have Mary Yearsley Walton as their only daughter.Does anyone have more information on these people?
