Joseph A. Hewes, Esq. Born c. 1819 in Ohio, lived in Rawlins County, KS. He was one of the enumerators for the 1880 census, and enumerates himself on the last page of Township 4, R31. He was an attorney.

He was married to Nancy Elizabeth Hicks. They must have divorced, as Nancy is remarried in 1880 to John Tarr (Leavenworth, KS)

The 1880 census states that his parents were from Pennsylvania.

Any information on Joseph A. Hewes and his lineage appreciated.
