Can't help with the line but there is a strong presence of Welsh Quakers where Ilive in Montgomery County, PA
So don't discount a PA/ Welsh/Quaker connection toyour Hughes/Hewes line!
I am searching, so far ,in vain!!! for the parentage of a Robert Morris Hewes, supposedly the fahter of RMH, Jr born in Phila in 1856. Mother is Mary Frances Vantine. Found Mary and son RMH living with her parents in Phila in 1860 (census no RMH Sr. Oh well!! Good Luck!
