Tamie - Thanks, but I think I found our Mary--and she would have been in the US by 1860. Ron Hettinger had posted back 7 years ago that her parents were Alexander Hettinger and Temperance Allison who immigrated to the US earlier than 1860. I don't have supporting documentation for that yet, and Ron seems to be no longer on this forum, but it makes sense as both Allison and Temperance were names given to descendants during following generations of the family (Ida Temperance Dawley and Allison Houghton Ruhe).
