I received a copy of Magdalena Hettinger THAYER's obit from the Belvidere Library. It says the following:
Dated 24 Jan 1912
"Mrs. Madgalene Hettinger Thayer, wife of William W. Thayer, passed away last night....was 73 years old November 25th. Mr and Mrs Thayer moved here from Elgin 25 years ago..They were married in Allen County, Indiana Dec 31st 1861....Of the immediate family there remain the husband, William Thayer; five daughters, Mrs. John Keefe, Mrs. Nellie Rainthorp, Mrs. Emma Blank, Mrs. Jennie Wenzel and Mrs. Ernest Whitworth, and one son James F. Thayer all of this city, one son George who died in infancy and another son David died about 18 years ago.
"Of relatives of the decesed there remains to survive the loss three sisters: Mrs. Lydia Howe of Norwalk, Ohio, Mrs. Sarah Kent of this city and Mrs. Elsie Sleesman of Whitley County, Indiana. There are also three brothers; Angrew Hettinger of Fox Lake Illinois and John and Daniel who are living in Kansas"
I skipped a little info, but have given the names and places. The family I am tracing is descended from James Thayer.
Have you ever found anything about William Wesley Thayer's parents other than that in every census he says they were born in New York??
I also have William Thayer's obit.
