Dan,
As Al mentions there is no tartan associated with the Hetheringtons. However we do have a coat of arms. Burke's actually lists four or five coats of arms under the name Hetherington but three (or four) were issued to individuals, not to be carried by their decendants. Ours is a shield divided vertically(party per pale) silver and black (argent et sable) three lions rampant counterchanged (meaning opposite color) with a helm over the shield crested by a red lion's head encircled with a silver chain. My father has a picture of this which hangs I believe either at the tower of london or the carlisle museum I don't remember which.
