Teresa,
I have looked through my sources and can't identify a connectionwith my family. I thought the Abraham Hestand, age 48 was Abraham M. Hestand, who lived in Monroe County, and Jackson Co., TN, but doesn't seem to have moved to Illinois (and the other family members don't match).

My Great-Grandfather moved to Williamson County, IL in the early 1850's- Blairsville Township, very near the Jackson County, IL line. His name was John S. Hestand. His brother and sister also moved there, probably a little later - Abraham S. Hestand, and Margaret Hestand Pitcock. Abraham S. Hestand was born about 1805, and was probably not in Illinois in 1850.

My book, Hiestand Family of Page County, Virginia, by David Trimble is fairly comprehensive, but has gaps in it. There are no Skipworth names in the book. There are both Rich and Myers names included, but in my quick perusal, I couldn't place them in Illinois (many families have no geographic location listed).

I have been interested in the migrations of groups. I have records of my ancestors moving along with 15 or so identifiable families from Eastern Tennessee to Monroe County around the turn of the century at the end of the 1700's. Then, a number of families that I can identify moved to Franklin and Williamson Counties, Illinois. I think it was less common for a person to strike out to a new place some distance away on his own.

I notice that you had an inquiry in Grayson County, Texas - One of my forebears moved from Monroe County, KY to Grayson County, TX, about 1853 and lived there until after the Civil War. So that is another of my hot counties.

Please contact me directly and I will give you names of the Rich and Myers families. I got a reject on an e-mail I attempted to send you.
Regards,
Ken Hestand
Fort Worth, Texas
