I know that my great grandfather Jacob came to London from Lomza in what was then in a part of Russia that's now Poland. Lomza is a town about 65 miles NE of Warsaw but then was also the name of a province and it was from the province that he declared that he came.
Jacob gave the names of his parents as Mannas and Feiga. Jacob became a British subject on 15th October 1894, declaring at that time that he was 33, so he must have been born in late 1860 or in 1861. His children were Louis, Esther, Betsy, Fanny, Pauline and Albert. Louis had two sons, Richard (called Dick) and my father Claude.
Anyone with ancestors called Mannas and Feiga?
