Hello Mr. Chew, My information came from the Centenial Biographical History of Richland Co. Ohio by the The Lewis Publishing Co. 1901. There is an article about Newton Hersh, it mentions his father Joel, born 1806 in Pa.It goes on to say that his sons Joel and Albert were in civil war in Georgia, where Albert was killed. Joel the father contracted a fever which terminated his life shortly after he returned to Richland Co. in 1862. Are you descended from Isabella and James Wilson Chew? Sounds like the same family to me.
