Hello Katharine!!! I haven't heard of anyone in our direct Heron family tree with CF. I believe the Autosomal DNA would need to be tested in order to find the CF gene. Testing for autosomal dna is a different test that is not routinely performed in DNA testing for the purposes of genealogy. Autosomal testing is a more advanced test that can be arranged through the Heron Surname DNA Project at a reduced cost. You may contact me if you would like more information at l.heron@sympatico.ca.
I would suggest you also post your question on the Heron Families Forum at http://www.wfnforum.net/index.php?board=612.0 to see whether other Heron families have had CF in their family.
